The significance of fostering a culture and developing strategies that encourage employees to proactively pursue their own development was highlighted during a speech by Brunei Institute of Leadership and Islamic Finance (BILIF) Chief Executive Officer Hajah Sufinah binti Haji Sahat yesterday at their annual retreat.
She believes that the approach will not only enhance employee retention but also ensure the long-term sustainability and success of an organisation.
In her welcoming remarks, Hajah Sufinah also called on human resource (HR) professionals to champion the professional growth and self-development of all employees.
Over 40 HR professionals from public and private organisations attended the event, including the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei (TAIB), Baiduri Bank Group, Standard Chartered Bank and Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd.
BILIF said in a statement that the event was aimed at strengthening relationship between the organisation and its stakeholders and clients while providing a platform for HR professionals to network and learn from one another.
Yesterday’s event saw discussions on the latest HR trends and issues as well as remedial strategies in human capital development.
Several presentations were featured at the retreat including ‘People, Potential, Progress’ by Dr Logama Doraisamy from Salve Asia and ‘Learning & Development Programmes 2024’ by BILIF representatives, as well as a workshop led by Dr Doraisamy on ‘Human Competency and Capacity Development’.
