Emergency drill at Lumut filling station

A reversing vehicle tipped over two oil drums containing RON97 and diesel at Lumut Petrol Station in Kuala Belait. The spillage was contained by fire marshals and first aiders.

It was the drill for ‘Operasi Tangkas 4’ by Mashhor General Contractor Sdn Bhd (MGCSB) yesterday.

MGCSB Corporate Group Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) and Asset Manager Mohd Rizal bin Dr Haji Abdul Latif led the operation, assisted by HSSE Coordinator Abdul Wadoud bin Hamdani and Environmental Officer Mohammad Azri bin Mahmud.

Mohd Rizal said the exercise was an assessment of group emergency response system and monitor the fire marshals and first aiders’ efficiency and capabilities in handling emergency situations. The operation also aimed to ensure everyone involved knew how they should react in a real emergency.

Chief Fire Marshall Azrin Sutikno, Sungai Liang Fire Station’s SO Sarkawi bin Bakar and Sungai Liang Police Traffic Control’s S/Inspector Mohd Nazmi bin Haji Ismail, Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd Head of Retail Haji Shahruddin bin Haji Abdul Wahid and MGCSB Waste Management Chief Executive Officer Malai Shamil Faris bin Dr Malai Haji Abdul Hamid were present with representatives from the Fire and Rescue Department and Royal Brunei Police Force. – Daniel Lim
