Religious officials lauded the public for playing their part in tackling COVID-19 during Ramadhan and Syawal. The community adhered to the standard operating procedures to curb COVID-19 by participating in the vaccination programme, maintaining good hygiene and using their BruHealth app.
This was said by Head of Counselling and Religious Teaching at the Office of Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Saharuddin bin Haji Patra during a weekly Munajat on Saturday night.
In his talk, ‘The Importance of Values in Facing Pandemic’, Haji Saharuddin said in Syawal, the nation is celebrating the festivities by glorifying Allah the Almighty, forging closer ties, visiting close family members, and abiding by the health measures.
“The decent values exemplified by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) will be ever-lasting and continue to be embraced in our society.
“And by practising these values, we can face COVID-19 full of blessings and receive assistance from Allah the Almighty, which in turn, bring us closer to Him.”
He added, “The privilege of the Ummah, who practise good values, appears in Hadith. Among the missions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was to spread noble values.”
He also said, “His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, in his titah to mark New Year 1442 Hijrah celebration emphasised the importance for Muslims to have a firm foothold on noble values as practised by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and His companions.
The 34th Munajat was participated by the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank and government- linked companies.
A total of 73 mosques, suraus and religious halls nationwide also attended the ceremony virtually.
The event began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and Surah Al-Fatihah, led by the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) at Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Bebatik Kilanas.
Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah were also in attendance.
The recitation of Surah Yaasiin was led by Director of Islamic Studies Haji Shamsol bin Haji Omar with officers and staff at the Islamic Studies Department from the Surau of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Arabic School in Kampong Rimba.
Doa Munajat seeking protection from Allah the Almighty from calamities and diseases was led by Assistant Head of Istinbat at State Mufti’s Office Haji Mohamad Raimi bin Tengah.
Following the religious talk, Zikir Taubat was read by Research and Publication Division Officer at the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI) Pengiran Md Rafiuddin bin Pengiran Haji Badaruddin along with officers and staff from the PDI.
The weekly gathering ended with Doa Peliharakan Sultan dan Negara Brunei Darussalam by Kampong Selangan Mosque Imam Mahdini bin Kamis.
