Brunei Darussalam’s combat sports star Eazy Anuar added a feather in the cap in his individual career after becoming the first homegrown Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt holder in the country.

The mixed martial arts (MMA) specialist achieved the belt grading following a jiu-jitsu seminar organised by the Bruneian BJJ community and Khalifa Mixed Martial Arts at the Khalifa MMA Gym on Monday.

Eazy said in an interview, “It is always a great time having the professor here. Happy to see the students’ progress and promotions.

“We are blessed to have our coach here in Brunei helping us growing our skills.”

The seminar was part of Brazilian coach and mentor Alexsandro ‘Leke’ Machado’s annual visit to the affiliated Brunei gym.

Machado‘s visit provided an opportunity to catch the progress of the members and to show their new techniques, as well as grading their belt promotions.

Some 40 people were in attendance during the seminar.

Machado is a third degree black belt holder under Rico Viera of Checkmat.
