The National Anti-Drug Association (BASMIDA) in collaboration with Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College (SOASC), Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) held a family drawing competition in conjunction with the National Family Day 2022.

SOASC Principal Mohamed Santra bin Haji Bolhasan awarded certificates and BND50 cash prizes to 21 students in the Excellence Category, and BND30 to 11 students in the Good Category.

The winners received their prizes in a ceremony at SOASC, in the presence of BASMIDA President Datin Hajah Masni binti Haji Mohd Ali, deputy principal, teachers and students.

Datin Hajah Masni pointed out that drug abuse is a social ill that threatens families, society and national peace and safety, adding that, “hence as a non-governmental organisation (NGO) body, educators as well as students, should double the efforts to fight drug abuse.”

BASMIDA’s main method in carrying out preventive drug education activities is through the Islamic approach.

The competition was organised in support of National Family Day 2022, and set with the objective of upholding the roles and responsibilities of parents as role models in the family, and having them instil pure values in their children.
