Thirty Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) personnel deployed as part of the Malaysian Battalion 850-9 (MALBATT 850-9) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) completed a 13-month peacekeeping mission and returned to the country.

The contingent, led by Major Muhd Yusddy Affenddy bin Haji Amran, returned to the Sultanate on December 6.

A Doa Kesyukuran to welcome the return of the RBAF personnel was held at Surau Ad-Difa’, Bolkiah Garrison yesterday.

Deputy Minister of Defence Brigadier General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Abd Kadir was the guest of honour.

The thanksgiving ceremony was collaborated with the weekly Ministry of Defence (MinDef) and RBAF Halaqah Jumaat. It began with the recitation of Sayyidul Istighfar and verses from Al-Quran, followed by Tazkirah, Dikir Marhaban and the presentation of certificates to the contingent officers and personnel. The event concluded with the recitation of Doa Kesyukuran and Sunnat Dhuha prayers.

Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan, Charge d’Affaires of the High Commission of Malaysia in Brunei Darussalam Nur Ezira binti Mahadi, Permanent Secretary (Development, Maintenance and Technology) at the MinDef, service commanders, joint force commander, deputy permanent secretaries at the MinDef, military and civilian officers as well as staff of the MinDef also participated in the Doa Kesyukuran ceremony.

The RBAF’s participation in UNIFIL peacekeeping missions since 2008 reflects its commitment to enhance regional and international security as outlined in Brunei’s Defence White Paper.
