Nineteen families, impacted by disasters received financial assistance from the Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam through the Community Development Department (JAPEM) during a ceremony at the Citra Budaya Hall of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports yesterday.
The families were impacted by fire, strong winds, had their home collapsed or deemed unsafe for occupation.
Six families were affected by fire, two by collapsed house, two by condemned homes, and nine by strong winds. No one was reported injured during the incidents.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad handed over the donations.
The assistance hoped to ease burden and also demonstrated the care and concern of the government towards families affected by disaster. – James Kon
