DDT FT will join an exclusive list of leading futsal teams in the country after they qualified to the newly-launched Brunei Elite Futsal League (BEFL) 2024/2025 season which is set to kick off this Saturday.

The Brunei Futsal League regular negotiated a tricky battle with PES in the playoff to claim the final spot in the top tier of the futsal league.

DDT FT have a two-goal lead to protect after taking the first leg 3-1 but PES, who finished six points above them last season, dragged back on level terms after emerging 2-0 winners in the second leg.

However, DDT FT broke PES hearts and survived the lottery of the penalty shoot-out at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) Indoor Sports Complex.

DDT FT Assistant Team Manager Haji Joharis bin Haji Bali said, ”Success in participating in the BEFL tournament means a lot to the DDT FT.”

He continued, “We went through many challenges, but determination, tenacity, and hard work to face the play-off match have yielded positive results.” According to him, competing in the BEFL will pose a greater challenge but the team will be more determined to match the strength of the opposing teams.

The assistant team manager added, “The combination of new and senior players is expected to have a strong impact on the team.”

He also stressed the importance of performing with tenacity to face any situation.

The BEFL will feature eight teams namely reigning holders Kasuka Ar Rawda, MS ABDB, Almerez HiTune FC, Kota Ranger FC, Shah United, Arbisyam FC, DDT FT and Buangkok FC from Singapore. – Fadhil Yunus
