Seven officers and personnel of the Royal Customs and Excise Department (RCED) facing corruption charges will go on trial starting October next year.

Intermediate Court Judge Radin Safiee bin Radin Mas Basiuni fixed the trial date on Saturday, scheduling the proceedings to take place for a month starting October 2024.

Pengiran Mohd Amir Ilham bin Pengiran Haji Yusop, Pengiran Ehsaney Mohammad Mustaffa bin Pengiran Jalil, Abu Talip bin Haji Awang Tengah, Dayangku Harlizan binti Pengiran Zainal, Muhammad Nazirul Mubin bin Ismail, Muhammad Khairul Zaman bin Haji A Said and Marsidi bin Haji Bakir face charges of corruption, conspiring to commit criminal breach of trust and misuse of public office.

The case is a result of an arrest by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a joint operation with other security agencies between September 8, 2022 and October 4, 2022.

The ACB was tipped off that RCED officers were selling off items seized by the RCED, some of which were ordered for disposal.
