Guardian Brunei launched its corporate social responsibility (CSR) project, ‘Together, Keeping Kids Clean and Healthy’ programme, in collaboration with the Children’s Cancer Foundation (YASKA) yesterday at the YASKA Centre in Kampong Kiarong.
Guardian Brunei’s Head of Business Jennifer Yang along with YASKA Vice Chairperson Tsara’ Nawarrah binti Abdullah was in attendance.
According to Jennifer, the CSR project is part of a collaborative move called ‘Guardian Cares’ along with other Guardian branches in the Southeast Asian region to donate 40 million bath care products to underprivileged children across the region.
“At Guardian, we believe everyone deserves to feel clean and healthy. It is a basic human right and should not be a luxury or privilege,” she added.
“Guardian believes they should give back to the community and support those who have been with them for the last 32 years,” the head of business said.
In choosing YASKA to kick-start its CSR project, Jennifer said the foundation has done amazing work supporting children living with cancer and their families.
“Their enthusiasm and passion to help these children who are going through the unimaginable was a definite factor,” said Jennifer, adding that Guardian wants to be a part of YASKA children’s journey to health and recovery.
In officiating the collaboration, Guardian Brunei held a donation drive of Guardian’s essential body wash for underprivileged children of YASKA.
The private event also consisted of activities from teaching them basic hygiene care, a pop quiz session and colouring activity. To support the initiative held by Guardian Brunei, members of the public can purchase Guardian-owned body washes, and 10 cents will be donated to YASKA for every litre bought.
The public may also purchase the limited-edition Guardian care bear, and all its profits will go to the charity. – Izah Azahari
