Cops call three for Zayn Rayyan murder probe

PETALING JAYA (ANN/THE STAR) – The police have summoned three individuals, including the former babysitter of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, the autistic boy murdered in Damansara Damai in December 2023.

Selangor Police Chief Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan stated that the three individuals were summoned to the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters to assist in the murder investigation, as reported by the Malay language daily Sinar Harian.

“The other two individuals called up are relatives of the babysitter.

“This is part of the investigation process. Several more witnesses may be called up to help in the investigation if there is a need,” he toll Sinar Harian on Monday.

It was previously reported that the police had seized the mobile phones belong to Zayn Rayyan’s parents to help in investigations.

Earlier, police had arrested the parents in Puncak Alam at about 11am on May 31 before remanding them for seven days until June 8.

On Dec 5 last year, Zayn Rayyan was reported missing in Damansara Damai and his dead body was later found near a stream about 200 metres from his home at Apartment Idaman.

A post-mortem revealed injuries to his neck and body, leading to the conclusion that he had been killed.

During the course of the investigation, police’s forensic teams combed the location where the body was found as well as the surrounding areas in Damansara Damai.

A mass DNA screening was also conducted, and 228 samples were collected.

Witnesses, including those who claimed to have last seen the boy alive, were also brought to the scene to assist investigators.
