The Enforcement Division of the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board issued two compound fines, totalling BND2,000, to a local contractor and a company in the Belait District recently.
The contractor found to have disposed trash and used construction materials at public premises at Jalan Lubok Jelutong, was issued a BND1,000 fine.
Meanwhile, a company also received a BND1,000 compound fine for the same violation behind one of the residences at Jalan Pemancha.
Both were given seven days to settle the fine.
The failure to do so will result in the case being brought to court.
If found guilty, they will face a fine of between BND2,000 and BND10,000 for the first offence, and between BND10,000 and BND30,000, imprisonment of up to 12 months, or both, for subsequent offences.
The agency also reminded the public to maintain the cleanliness of their surroundings and refrain from illegal dumping. – Daniel Lim
