The male team from Al-Ameerah Al- Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Jerudong and female team from Kampong Tanah Jambu won the Children Al-Quran and Muqaddam Reading Competition on Saturday.
The event organised by Mosque Affairs Department and Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque Takmir Committee was held to encourage the children taking Al-Quran and Muqaddam classes to be more Al-Quran literate and recite it daily.
It was also held in conjunction with the 76th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
The competition saw the participation of 11 male and 12 female teams.
Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religious) at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohd Serudin bin Haji Timbang presented prizes to the winners.
