Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) recently celebrated a significant safety milestone, surpassing 10 million man-hours without a lost time injury (LTI). This achievement, representing over 11 years of accumulated work hours, was marked on October 29.
Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy (Economy) Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin bin Haji Abdul Hamid attended the celebration as BMC’s deputy chairman.
A highlight of the event was the launch of BMC’s 12 Life-Saving Rules (LSR) officiated by the deputy minister.
Dato Seri Paduka Haji Khairuddin, in a speech, emphasised BMC’s role as a model for proactive safety practices and sustainable growth. He encouraged all employees to adopt the 12 LSRs to maintain a zero-incident record.
BMC Chief Executive Officer Jesús Enrique Mora Marín meanwhile highlighted the collective effort behind this achievement, emphasising the company’s commitment to safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence. Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Company Inc (MGC) Director and Managing Executive Officer Hideaki Akase also praised BMC’s commitment to safety and stable operations.
The event also featured exhibitions from BMC’s business partners, showcasing the application of the LSRs in daily operations. – James Kon
