Brunei Methanol Company Sdn Bhd (BMC) announced on Thursday of having reached nine million man-hours without lost time injury (LTI).

BMC Chief Executive Officer Jesús Enrique Mora Marín said the achievement is testament to the company’s safety culture and commitment to a safe work environment during BMC’s second quarter townhall of 2023.

Mora Marín told the employees; “Our journey towards creating a zero-incident workplace continues. Let’s keep prioritising safety in everything we do and ensure everyone goes home safely at the end of the day.”

BMC’s HSSE General Manager Pengiran Mohamad Supri bin Pengiran Haji Chuchu said; “Maintaining a remarkable safety record requires a collective effort and a deep understanding that safety is not just a priority but an integral part of our organisational DNA. Safety is not just a goal; it is a way of life.”

The event also featured a retirement recognition ceremony to honour four retirees and to express gratitude for the efforts by the project team following completion of BMC’s scheduled turnaround.

The safety milestone, representing over 10 years of accumulated work man-hours, underscores the company’s pursuit of regulatory compliance and strict adherence to the best safety practices. BMC’s approach is focusing on safety protocols, risk assessments, and hazard prevention among its employees with contractors playing a pivotal role in maintaining a secure work environment.
