The Licensing and Enforcement Division, Brunei-Muara District Office issued fines to four companies and seven individuals for violating Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
A company was fined BND2,000 and another penalised BND1,000. Meanwhile, Lim Tong Nam was fined BND500 and Lain Yan Khiong, Najib bin Sulai, Abdul Rahim bin Sulai, Md Delowar Hossen and Fatin Nikmatul Firdaus, were fined BND300 each. Ferdian Angga Firmansyah was fined BND100.
In separate operations, the enforcement officers issued fines of BND2,000 each to two more companies.
One company carrying out construction activity on a site in Kampong Tanjong Bunut was found to have violated Section 12(1)(a), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act while another company was fined for violating Section 12(1)(d), Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
Both companies were ordered to clean up the site.
The offenders have been given seven days to settle the fines. The failure to do so will result in prosecution in court. If found guilty, the penalty for a company is not more than BND30,000, while for an individual it is not more than BND9,000 or imprisonment for 12 months, or both. – Lyna Mohamad
