District representatives in committees for the 77th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam met yesterday to plan for events and activities to be held in conjunction with the occasion.
The country celebrates the monarch’s birthday every July 15.
The committee meetings saw Legislative Council members, district officers, prominent members of the district communities and grassroots leaders discuss plans which include decorations and religious, community and sporting events to be held in conjunction with His Majesty’s 77th Birthday celebration.
In the Brunei-Muara District, the committee meeting was chaired by Brunei-Muara District Officer Misle bin Haji Abdul Karim. He advocated for prudent spending for this year’s celebration.
Pehin Kapitan Lela Diraja Dato Paduka Goh King Chin was also present during the meeting.
In the Belait District, the committee meeting was chaired by Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad.
The Acting Belait District Officer highlighted the importance of the meeting as a platform to foster close collaboration between various agencies to ensure the safety of everyone involved in the celebration.
“I look forward to the various events and activities that will be held this year and will enliven the celebrations in the Belait District while encouraging the interest and participation from the community.”
In the Tutong District, the committee meeting was chaired by the Acting Tutong District Officer Mohd Sofian bin Haji Basir.
