Civil Service Day futsal finals close in

The 31st Civil Service Day Inter-Ministerial Futsal Tournament has been whittled down to four teams following the conclusion of the first knock-out round games in both the open and veteran categories.

The remaining quartet will be in contention for the title starting with the semi-final and subsequently the final at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex on Saturday.

The line-up for the semifinals in the open category has been announced with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) taking on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) while the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) will test the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

Meanwhile in the veteran category, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) will face MoHA, while the Ministry of Health (MoH) will meet defending champions Ministry of Defence (MinDef).

The biggest casualty of the tournament was when open category reigning holders Ministry of Development (MoD) got knocked out by MoRA 1-0.

Nevertheless, the veteran’s defending champions MinDef survived a penalty shoot-out scare against the highly-spirited MoRA to advance to the last four. – Fadhil Yunus
