This year’s Student Civics programme by the Information Department through the Nationhood Unit, Strategic Communications Section, Publication and Strategic Communication Division saw 50 youth participating from August 29 to September 1.
At Mendaram Besar Longhouse in the Belait District, the contingent was greeted by head Berandi anak Jamau and took a look at handicraft products. The longhouse’s assistant chairman Jantin anak Jamau shared the history of the premises and gave the participants and opportunity to witness a cultural performance from the residents.
The students also visited Angkasa Oud Agarwood Company, producers of agarwood-based products. They were briefed on agarwood perfume production in Kampong Tanjong Maya in the Tutong District by the company’s managing director Haji Md Nur Adli bin Haji Hanafi.
They also received a briefing from Wira Bina Company’s product pioneer Yakup bin Haji Abdul Rahman on virgin coconut oil products, such as soaps, lotions and oils produced by the company.
