Childhood care education in the spotlight

The Ministry of Education (MoE) yesterday held the closing ceremony for the Regional Capacity Development Programme at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Brunei Darussalam.

The four-day event, themed, ‘Holistic Integrated Early Childhood Care Education: Our Happy Neighbourhood’, began on June 10, was jointly organised by the Department of Schools through the Early Childhood Education Unit and the Department of Educators Management at the MoE and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (SEAMEO CECCEP), in Indonesia.

Director of Schools at the Ministry of Education Hajah Marina Chek binti Bujang attended the event as guest of honour.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a speech from the guest of honour.

The event also saw speeches from SEAMEO CECCEP Director Professor Vina Adriany and Haji Ahmad Rifaie bin Haji Abdul Malek, a preschool teacher at Pehin Dato Jamil Primary School as representative of the participants.

In his speech, the representative highlighted the importance of early education and children as assets for a country’s future.

The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of participation to 86 participants and certificates of appreciation to 12 facilitators from Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology and the SEAMEO CECCEP by the guest of honour.

The programme not only emphasised among the participants the importance of holistic and integrated early childhood education in shaping a future for the next generation, but it also showcased collaborative efforts to introduced a comprehensive approach to addressing the needs of children at the early stages of their development. – Adib Noor
