The Brunei Chess Federation (BCF) recently launched the Chess Calendar Tournament for 2024, inaugurated by Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud.
The tournament will be based on the blitz, rapid and classical chess format.
The federation will also hold monthly tournaments and special events commemorating the National Day and His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s birthday.
A BCF chess rapid, in conjunction with the royal wedding, will be held on January 21 at 9am at the Brunei Chess Centre. BCF Vice President Pengiran Abdul Rahman said the tournament’s objective is to promote the game of chess among students. The results will be used to select players for international tournaments.
