Responding to a recent viral video alleging unauthorised fund transfers from an individual’s bank account, Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) in a statement on Friday said that it is working closely with the relevant parties and, if necessary, will act accordingly to minimise any impact the issue may have on the bank’s clients and the financial sector as a whole.
Emphasising the importance of financial stability and safeguarding the financial system, BDCB said it implements policies to strengthen risk management and internal controls among banks and financial institutions, aiming to instill public confidence and protect public interest.
With technology advancements in the financial sector, BDCB stresses the need to identify, assess, and mitigate technological risks. Banks and financial institutions are urged to enhance system security, with BDCB prepared to take action against any breaches.
The central bank also encouraged the responsible use of digital banking, emphasising personal and financial information security and the importance of securing smart devices.
