I have lived in RPN Kampong Rimba near Rimba Secondary School and Rimba Primary School since I was a child.
One of the biggest challenges for residents here is the morning traffic congestion. Since our main road is surrounded by schools, we have three exit routes but each of them passes by a school.
As a result, I frequently find myself stuck in traffic right after exiting my junction even before reaching the main road.
While I understand that traffic jams are common and other areas may experience worse conditions, I still hope that improvements can be made. What concerns me most is the lack of safety at the T-junction intersection. I have personally experienced a situation where I made my exit upon sensing a car approaching from the right seemed to be at a safe distance away, only to be honked by the approaching car, which was speeding and much closer than it initially appeared.
While I acknowledge that I may have misjudged the distance, this highlights the need for better road safety measures.
I strongly urge the authorities to upgrade the road infrastructure to enhance safety. Many newer suburban areas in Brunei have implemented mini roundabouts, speed humps or other traffic-calming measures that encourage drivers to slow down. Introducing similar improvements in RPN Kampong Rimba would make it safer and easier for residents to exit the T-junction without the constant risk of speeding vehicles.
Having lived in this area for over two decades, the only major road improvement I have seen is the installation of traffic lights at the main entrance, along with routine maintenance. It is time for additional upgrades to address these long-standing concerns and improve road safety for everyone in the community.
