I would like to call on the authorities to consider speeding up the pharmacy services at public hospitals.
Despite having a full staff working at the department, patients often have to wait in a long queue to collect their medicines.
Those with a tight schedule would work around the issue by leaving their medical cards at the counter and collect their medicines hours later. On occasions, they would still have to spend some time before their prescriptions are ready for collection.
The inclusion of a hotline is a good idea on paper because patients, especially those on medication, can request for their prescriptions in advance. But what is the use of having that option when there’s no one to pick up the phone?
We, the patients, have been asking the authorities to consider assigning a staff member to deal exclusively with the hotline but it has largely fallen on deaf ears.
I believe our healthcare system could be improved by sending the staff for training abroad. That way, they could bring home best practices that would benefit the public in the long run.
