Two youth leaders from Brunei, Natasya Emeralda Leong and Bazilah Fakhri is currently in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for the ASEAN Youth Economic Forum (AYEF) 2025.
The two are contributing their expertise on biodiversity, climate change, and economic development during the forum, according to a press release.
Natasya Emeralda Leong attends as a representative of BruWILD (Biodiversity and Wildlife Conservation Organisation), a Brunei-based non-governmental organisation dedicated to environmental education and conservation.
Meanwhile, Bazilah Fakhri from Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) brings a research-driven perspective to the discussions.
Themed, ‘Climate Change and Building a Climate-Resilient Economy’, AYEF 2025 aims to foster dialogue among young leaders, researchers, and policymakers from across ASEAN.
The event will provide a platform for sharing innovative solutions to mitigate climate change impacts while promoting sustainable economic growth.
On her participation, Natasya Emeralda Leong said, “Representing BruWILD at AYEF 2025 is an honour. We aim to highlight Brunei’s role in biodiversity conservation and economic models.”
Brunei’s participation underscores the country’s growing emphasis on integrating biodiversity conservation with sustainable economic policies.
The forum allows Natasya and Bazilah to engage in policy discussions, network with ASEAN stakeholders, and contribute to action plans that align with regional sustainability goals.
