The Plenary Session of the 22nd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) meeting was held recently, with Brunei Darussalam serving as chair from 2023 to 2024.
Following a preparatory meeting on Tuesday, the ACCSM session was resumed yesterday with the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) being chaired by Acting Director-General of Public Service Dr Norfarizal bin Othman.
Senior officials from the public service sector of ASEAN member states attended the meeting, with delegates from Timor-Leste also attending as observers.
The SOM discussed the planning of activities and the Roadmap during Brunei Darussalam’s Chairmanship of the ACCSM.
As the Chair of ACCSM, Brunei Darussalam’s priorities include the development of the Post-2025 ACCSM Work Plan, which will be prepared collectively by ASEAN member states, following the implementation of the mid-term review of ACCSM Work Plan 2021-2025.
Based on the outcomes of the review, the meeting agreed that public service issues and challenges should be addressed through continuous monitoring of activities and initiatives carried out under the ACCSM Work Plan, comprehensive capacity building of the public service, as well as continuous collaboration and communication among the public service sector of ASEAN member states, ASEAN sectoral bodies and dialogue partners.
During the meeting, ASEAN Member States also reported on the progress of their respective activities.
So far, 18 projects and programmes under the ACCSM and ACCSM plus three 2021-2025 Work Plans have been implemented.
