Brunei takes lead in youth empowerment

Brunei Darussalam has been entrusted to design and implement programmes as part of the youth potential strategic focus under the MABIMS Strategic Plan 2021-2025.

Through the initiative, the authorities hope to produce youth with potential, knowledge and Islamic religious education, as well as noble character.

This was highlighted by Head of Public Relations, International and MABIMS Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Haji Mohammad Albi bin Haji Ibrahim during the closing ceremony and a presentation of certificates to 26 participants who completed the MABIMS Islamic Youth Leadership at The Rizqun International Hotel yesterday.

Permanent Secretary at the MoRA Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim, as the Head of Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) for Brunei Darussalam, attended as the guest of honour.

The four-day course was jointly organised by various agencies including the Public Relations, International and MABIMS Division as Secretariat for MABIMS for Brunei Darussalam; the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports; the Brunei Youth Council; and volunteers from the First Aid Support Team (V-Fast).

Haji Muhammad Albi added that the course was joined by youth from MABIMS member countries and hoped that it has instiled Islamic leadership values in the MABIMS youth.

Fifteen youth represented the Sultanate, four from Indonesia, four Malaysia and three Singapore. – Rokiah Mahmud
