Brunei records 56 new COVID cases

Brunei Darussalam recorded 56 new COVID-19 cases, comprising 41 local and 15 imported, yesterday. With the latest figure, the total number of confirmed cases stands at 15,957, with 383 active ones.

The new cases were detected through 3,407 laboratory tests conducted in the last 24 hours.

The infection rate of positive case is 1.6 per cent, a Ministry of Health statement said. Twenty cases have recovered, bringing a total of 15,472 recoveries. The bed occupancy rate at isolation centres nationwide is at 9.2 per cent. One case is in Category 4, requiring oxygen assistance and under close observation.

As of January 17, 94.7 per cent of the total population had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 93.8 per cent had received two doses. A total of 34 per cent of the population had received the third dose.

Meanwhile, no violations were detected during the movement restriction from midnight to 4am yesterday.
