Brunei Darussalam recently left the country to take part in the BPI AIA Asia 7s at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Manila, the Philippines.

The team comprised fifteen playing members and was led by team captain Muhammad Ulfi Aminuddin.

Brunei’s Abdul Khaliq Roziman said in an interview, “The tournament will be a good exposure for us at the Super Squad platform especially when there are new faces in the team who hasn’t played overseas before.”

He added, “We will face countries from India, the Philippines and Japan and I can’t wait to get started.”

Meanwhile AIA 7s Football League Representative Anton Del Rosario said, “7-a-side football started out in the Philippines in 2018.“

He continued, “We started with eight teams and then after the pandemic we’re in 10 cities with 350 plus teams across the country.”
