Brunei duo win gold in wushu world cup

Brunei Darussalam wushu pair Majdurano Joel bin Majallah Sain and Abel Wee Yuen Lim made history for the nation after winning gold medal in the men’s Duilian event at the 3rd Taolu World Cup at the Yokohama Buntai in Yokohama, Japan yesterday.

The pair recorded a total of 9.683 points ahead of silver medallist Philippines’ Vincent Ventura, Mark Lester Ragay and Mark Anthony Bronze.

Spain’s Aldan Pose Martinez, Victor De La Plaza Schnieper and Nestor Urzainqui Milla settled for bronze. The country also secured bronze through national wushu star Mohammad Adi Salihin bin Roslan in the men’s Nandao event.

The national sensation, who bagged silver in the men’s Nangun event, accumulated a total of 9.760 points behind Malaysia’s Wai Leong Calvin Lee who finished with the same points.

China’s Bowen Du won gold in the eight-member field with 9.800 points.

Brunei, who are making their debut in the competition, has collected one gold, one silver and one bronze. – Fadhil Yunus
