Brunei COVID-19 cases trending downwards

The Sultanate recorded a downward trend of new COVID-19 cases for the second consecutive week. The number of reported COVID-19 cases showed a decrease where the average daily rate last week was 162 cases as compared to 186 per day in the previous week.

A total of 31,633 antigen rapid test (ART) results were uploaded to the BruHealth application in the week, of which 3.5 per cent were positive results.

The latest trend of new COVID-19 cases was released by the Ministry of Health in its weekly report.

Meanwhile, 209 new cases were reported yesterday of which 204 were ART results and five detected from RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

One case in Category 5 requires treatment at the intensive care unit and one in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance is under close supervision, the ministry said.

As of Sunday, the rate of COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the country remained at 79.2 per cent for residents having received three doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 12.1 per cent with having four shots.
