Some 21 members of the Brunei Darussalam contingent left the country yesterday to compete in the 12th ASEAN Para Games which is hosted by Cambodia. The contingent is led by Chef de Mission Haji Ali Yusri bin Haji Abdul Ghafor and accompanied by head of secretariat, two physio therapists, four coaches, an assistant coach, eight athletes for athletic events, two athletes for badminton and two swimmers.
Haji Ali Yusri said that he hopes that the athletes will bring glory by capturing at least two gold medals in this year’s ASEAN Para Games.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad saw off the contingent at the Brunei International Airport. Also present were Ambassador of Cambodia to Brunei Darussalam Lim Hokseng and Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud and officials.
