Brunei business chambers sign MoU with Hainan trade committee

The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry Brunei Darussalam (NCCIBD) yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Hainan Provincial Committee to enhance business relations and economic cooperation.

The MoU was signed by NCCIBD President Haji Abdul Saman bin Haji Ahmad and Vice President of the CCPIT Hainan Provincial Committee Chen Hongliang, who also signed on behalf of the China Chamber of International Commerce (COICC) Hainan Chamber of Commerce.

The primary objective of the MOU is to establish a comprehensive cooperation framework between NCCIBD and CCPIT Hainan Provincial Committee in order to enhance business relations, bolster trade and investment, promote food security, and facilitate economic cooperation between the two nations.

Haji Saman said the MoU enables both organisations to work together towards common goal to promote trade, investment, cooperation in several sectors between Hainan and Brunei Darussalam. This includes energy and agriculture sectors, he said, adding that he would like to see a long term partnership between both parties.

Meanwhile Chen Hongliang said they attach great importance of their ties with NCCIBD and looks forward to enhancing ties in trade and economy.
