Syafiah binti Abdul Hafidz and Ahmad Zahid Borhan were named Best National Chapter President and the Best National Chapter Secretary-General in recognition of Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) Brunei’s role as the hosts for ALSA Conference 2024.

They received the award during ALSA International’s forum held from September 8 to 10.

Hosted virtually by ALSA India, the forum is a flagship event that unites ALSA members from diverse countries for a range of academic and non-academic activities.

The event also signifies the start of ALSA’s official term, featuring the annual general assembly, governing council meetings, and international board elections.

ALSA Brunei was represented by National Board members Syafiah; Ahmad Zahid Borhan; Aziezul Safwan bin Ag Zakaria; Nurul Iffah binti Haji Puasa; and Ahmad Muqri bin Marhain.

The forum saw the annual accountability report presented by the international board.

The evaluation of ALSA Brunei’s overall performance revealed that the national chapter had active participation and responsiveness during governing council meetings throughout the term.

Additionally, ALSA Brunei consistently demonstrated a readiness to offer support and assistance to the International Board. Furthermore, commendation was given for their attendance and punctuality.

The ALSA Forum is among the many international events conducted by ALSA International, all of which are aimed at realising its core missions: promotion of legal education, advancement of professional development, and dedication to community service alongside instilling fundamental values such as leadership, integrity, and excellence.
