Book donation will expand knowledge about Islam, Qatar

Books on Islamic studies donated by the Embassy of Qatar to Brunei Darussalam will expand the knowledge of the people of Brunei Darussalam about Islam and Qatar, Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali’s (UNISSA) Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal said.

“The books will be a valuable collection to UNISSA’s library and will benefit the university’s students,” he said.

Dr Haji Norarfan said this during a ceremony when the Embassy of Qatar donated 158 books on Islamic studies at the university’s library yesterday. The books will be featured as a special collection and named ‘Qatar Publication Corner’.

Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Qatar to Brunei Darussalam Mohammed Abdulrahman MA Al-Jufairi launched the Qatar Publication Corner. Dr Haji Norarfan added that the donation also serves as a tribute to both parties’ efforts in strengthening ties.

UNISSA and Qatar have bridged their ties since 2017 with the visit of the Chairman of the Islamic Forum of the International Humanitarian Law, Organisation of Islamic Conference Dr Fauzi Oussedik. A UNISSA student was also crowned the fourth Best Debater at the Arabic Language Debate Championship. – Rokiah Mahmud
