Blatant smoking violation at basement parking raises concerns

While doing my weekly grocery shopping at a shopping complex in the capital a few days ago, I was shocked to come across a middle-aged man smoking in the basement parking area.

Not only does this behaviour reflect poorly on our country’s image but it also raises concerns about public health and safety.

The basement parking area, with its restricted ventilation, made the stench of cigarette smoke overpowering and unpleasant for others.

Secondhand smoke exposure in enclosed spaces like this poses serious health risks, especially to children, the elderly and individuals with respiratory conditions.

This incident also made me wonder – are there hotlines available for the public to report violations of the smoking ban in restricted areas?

Stricter enforcement along with accessible reporting channels could help deter such irresponsible behaviour.

I urge the authorities to take stronger action against those who ignore these regulations, ensuring a healthier and more respectful environment for all.
