The Ministry of Health (MoH) returned the Belait Sixth Form Centre, one of COVID-19 holding areas in Belait District to the Ministry of Education (MoE) in a ceremony on Thursday.

Permanent Secretary at the MoH Haji Maswadi bin Haji Mohsin and Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the MoE Dr Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin were the guests of honour.

The Belait Sixth Form Centre was used as a COVID-19 isolation facility known as COVID-19 Holding Area Belait (CHABEL6) from August 2021 to April 2022. Other school facilities such as Ma’had Islam Brunei have also been handed back to the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA).

Since the second wave of the COVID-19 outbreak, three government schools have been used as isolation centres.

The MoH, MoE and MoRA have reassured that efforts to clean and sanitise the schools and its surroundings are in full swing ahead of school sessions to ensure safety of all.
