A flag hoisting ceremony was held at Menara Cendera Kenangan in the Belait District on Monday to mark the commencement of the 78th birthday celebrations of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Deputy Minister (Energy) at the Prime Minister’s Office, Haji Mohammad Azmi bin Haji Mohd Hanifah, was as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were Legislative Council members Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Salleh bin Haji Othman and Yang Berhormat Mohammad bin Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, Acting Belait District Officer Amirol Hafidzin bin Haji Muhammad, Penghulus, Village Heads, and representatives from government agencies, associations, and the private sector.
The Deputy Minister handed over the national flag to flag bearers from the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) for hoisting. The national anthem was sung by the choir group from the Belait Sixth Form Centre (PTEB).
The Deputy Minister lter presented the national flag to Penghulus, Village Heads, and representatives from various groups and agencies across the Belait District. – DANIEL LIM
