The Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) Nakhoda Ragam Campus is conducting an orientation for new students admitted for the August 2024 session, which began yesterday and ends tomorrow.
The orientation began with a briefing session for the parents. Head of the School of Building Technology Services Noorisman bin Mentarais expressed enthusiasm about meeting the new students during the briefing. He highlighted the importance of physical and mental preparation for the challenges ahead, emphasising the need for commitment and proactive participation in both academic and extracurricular activities.
The new students will be participating in co-curricular activities organised by the Student Council, designed to introduce new students to campus culture and facilitate networking with peers.
Key activities will include a campus tour, which will help students familiarise themselves with facilities and adapt to campus life.
The orientation programme will also feature a motivational talk from the counselling unit, disciplinary briefings and information on examination rules, IBTE regulations and the Student Activities Rewards System (STARS).
The orientation was tailored for 250 new students across several programmes within the School of Building Technology Services, including Higher National Technical Education Certificate (HNTec) in Construction and Drafting (Dual TVET), HNTec in Geomatics and National Technical Education Certificate in Building Craft.
Meanwhile, the Central School of Energy and Engineering admitted 29 new students into its HNTec in Electrical Engineering programme.
The orientation aimed to ensure that new students gain a thorough understanding of campus life.
Pre-registration for the new students took place from July 3 to 5 at the campus multipurpose hall. – Azlan Othman
