The Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department (BDMD) hosted an information sharing programme at its headquarters in Anggerek Desa yesterday.
Acting Director of Information as Chairperson of the Public Relations Committee of Ministries and Government Departments Siti Bismi Nuruliman binti Haji Emzah led the delegation of 20 public relations officers and practitioners from various ministries.
They were welcomed by BDMD Acting Director Rokiah binti Haji Angas.
BDMD officer Nadiahtul ‘Afifah binti Haji Mohd Yasin delivered a briefing on the importance of utilising digital platforms in public engagement and touched on the challenges in using social media and ways to deal with them.
The group also visited the Weather Forecast Centre at Brunei International Airport for a closer look at the facilities, as well as the weather forecasting systems used in the observation and preparation of weather forecasts, advice and warnings for users such as government agencies and the public.
The programme aimed to improve the working relationship between officials and public relations officers at ministries and government departments. – Azlan Othman
