Brunei Darussalam Central Bank (BDCB) yesterday said a certificate purportedly issued by the agency, complete with its name and logo, is not genuine.
BDCB said the issue was raised by the public regarding an image of the said certificate, which was found to be fraudulent.
As such, the agency advises the public to remain vigilant “when receiving information and materials purporting to be linked to BDCB through the unauthorised use of BDCB’s name, symbol, design or representation”.
Should the public receive suspicious information that comes with BDCB’s name or logo, the agency advised them “to contact BDCB to verify authenticity by calling the hotline 8318388 or e-mail to info@bdcb.gov.bn”.
BDCB also reiterated that anyone using the agency’s name or logo without permission, or uses a name, symbol, design or representation that is identical or resembles that of the agency that causes confusion, intentionally or otherwise, is in violation of the BDCB Order 2010, and may face a fine of up to BND20,000 or a jail term of up to seven years, or both.
