Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) reaffirmed its commitment to inclusivity and community welfare by sponsoring the Digital Education Initiative for Autistic Children, codenamed ‘Embrace Differences’.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Transport and Info-Communications Ir Haji Mohammad Nazri bin Haji Mohammad Yusof launched the initiative, at the Society for the Management of Autism Related issues in Training, Education and Resources Brunei (SMARTER) Brunei EDGE Centre in Kampong Mata-Mata.
BIBD Government Relations and Special Projects Division’s Norhayati binti Haji Abdi Manaf and Siti Nur Halizatul Shifa binti Haji Md Shahrin were present.
Spearheaded by the NurRheiya Group as part of its community outreach programme, ‘Embrace Differences’ introduces a tailored digital education platform to enhance academic, social, and communication skills for autistic children. This initiative aligns with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG) 3, promoting good health and well-being by fostering mental and emotional wellness through tailored educational support.
BIBD’s sponsorship included the provision of essential devices and software, enabling this initiative to deliver inclusive and accessible education for children with autism, reflecting its alignment with UN SDG 4, which emphasises quality education for all. By ensuring that children with disabilities have access to the tools and resources needed to succeed, the initiative also supports UN SDG 10, reducing inequalities and promoting equal opportunities for children of all abilities.
BIBD Head of Government Relations and Special Projects Haji Mohd Yusri bin Haji Wahsalfelah said, “At BIBD, we believe in creating opportunities for all children to succeed, regardless of their circumstances. Through initiatives like this, we continue to prioritise education, digital innovation, and inclusivity as part of our broader commitment to giving back to the community. Supporting the mental and physical wellness of our society is integral to our vision of building a sustainable future for Brunei.”
In addition to contributing to Brunei’s Digital Economy Masterplan 2025, this project supports national aspirations under Brunei Vision 2035 by equipping autistic children with digital literacy skills crucial for future employment and daily living. BIBD remains committed to creating partnerships that drive impactful initiatives, ensuring every member of society has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the nation’s progress.
