Azerbaijan lauds Brunei for friendship, support

The non–resident Ambassador of Azerbajian to Brunei Darussalam Irfan Shakir Oglu Davudov expressed appreciation for the friendship and support provided by Brunei since Azerbaijan achieved its independence.

He said this when he paid a courtesy call on Speaker of the Legislative Council (LegCo) Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib.

The meeting focused on issues of mutual interest and concern. Both sides expressed sympathy for the situation that Muslim brotherhoods are in due to the political crisis of the countries involved.

Both hoped the unity and solidarity among Muslim countries can provide a spirit of cooperation in jointly dealing with the issues

The envoy said Azerbaijan appreciates the support from the LegCo for agreeing to the Milli Council (House of Parliament of Azerbaijan) as a dialogue country to the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA). It is hoped that it will be possible to further expand areas of international and regional cooperation.

Acting Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council and Acting Clerk to Councils Dr Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Hurairah was also present. – Azlan Othman
