Awards to PUJA members at Bali conference

Two Bruneians received awards at the 41st Conference of ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organisations (CAFEO) in Bali, Indonesia.

Ir Adwan bin Haji Tungkat received the Best Engineering Award while Institution of Surveyors, Engineers and Architect (PUJA) president and ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Secretary General FDr Ar Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman received the Honorary Fellow Membership Award.

The delegation of engineers from PUJA Engineer Division (ED) led by Chairman Ir Chin Lee Tuck participated in CAFEO themed ‘Green Energy and Blue Economy’.

The conference highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to the development of renewal energy like solar, wind and hydro energy as well as extensively making full use of its seas around its thousands of islands.

Technical and engineering papers were also presented with Brunei’s head delegate Ir Chin Lee Tuck presenting the Sultanate’s country report.

CAFEO is a platform for ASEAN engineers to promote and share technical, engineering and economic knowledge and experience.

More than 1,000 ASEAN engineers plus a few from Hong Kong, China, Korea, Pakistan, Australia and Middle East attended, with Indonesia and Malaysia sending the most delegates.

The conference is hosted in rotation each year among the ASEAN member countries, with Malaysia organising it in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah in 2024. – Azlan Othman
