Authority finds construction violations

The Authority on Building Control and Construction Industry (ABCi) has issued compound to a qualified person and two builder companies for several offences under the Building Control Act.

A business entity was charged with a compound of BND4,500 for executing the Permit to Commence Works without following the approved plan for renovation and extension of a restaurant in Kampong Beribi.

The appointed builder company, has been charged with a compound of BND4,500 for committing a similar offence.

Meanwhile, another was charged with a compound of BND5,000 for carrying out building works without a valid registration of builder’s licence for renovation works of a two-storey house in Kampong Sungai Hanching, Mukim Berakas.

The public intending to build and develop any buildings are reminded to ensure to appoint builders company with a valid registration of builder’s licences throughout the construction period and ensure that the occupation permit (OP) received from the qualified person and builders are according to the approved plan.

The agency reminded the public that building works, including earthworks, must comply with the Building Control Act and guidelines. Information can be obtained from ABCi’s official website.
