The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism’s (MPRT) Tourism Development Department held an award presentation ceremony for Brunei Darussalam’s winners of ASEAN Tourism Standard Awards yesterday in conjunction with the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023, which took place on February 5 in Yogyakarta, Indonesia under the theme ‘ASEAN: Journey to Wonderful Destinations’.
The Sultanate was among the recipients of the ASEAN Tourism Standard Awards namely the 2nd ASEAN Spa Services Standard Award and the 2nd ASEAN Public Toilet Standard Award.
The award presentation ceremony took place in the VIP Room at the MPRT building.
Permanent Secretary at the MPRT Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abdul Wahab presented the awards.
MPRT said the objectives of the awards was to increase the quality of human resources, services, and facilities through standards in the ASEAN region.
The awards are also to give appreciation and recognition at the ASEAN level to stakeholders that have fulfilled the standards developed by ASEAN member countries in the tourism sector.
The 2nd ASEAN Spa Services Standard Award was awarded to Reflection Eco Holistics (B) Sdn Bhd.
The ASEAN Spa Services Standard deals with the essential elements of professional and quality spa operations namely looking into: the place, the service, the people, the product, the equipment, the management, and the environment.
The 2nd ASEAN Public Toilet Standard Award was awarded to Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Complex for their premium toilets which have additional facilities such as nursing room and baby changing room; Kaizen Sushi Restaurant and Seria Energy Lab.
The ASEAN Public Toilet Standard was developed with the objective of ensuring the quality, comfort, safety, and proper waste management of public toilets in general at tourist destinations within the ASEAN region.
The award winners were among the recipients of the awards during the ASEAN Tourism Forum 2023 in Yogyakarta, but were unable to physically attend.
