The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA), in collaboration with JobCentre Brunei (JCB) under the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC), held a contract agreement signing ceremony for the SHENA Apprenticeship Scheme at the Banquet Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).

In a speech, SHENA Interim Chief Executive Officer Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya highlighted that the event was an important milestone in developing a positive impact to further enhance the safety and health culture in Brunei as well as to improve the overall safety and health performance nationally.

Ten apprentices from the first cohort of the SHENA Apprenticeship Scheme signed the contract agreement, with SHENA represented by Haji Azhar.

The event concluded with a group photo session. Aimed at producing highly-skilled workplace safety and health (WSH) officers, the SHENA Apprenticeship Scheme is a structured development programme, where the apprentices will continue their assignment for an additional six months with SHENA upon completion of their 18-month i-Ready Programme. SHENA will equip apprentices with enriched learning experiences through practical skills, and obtain relevant certifications to ensure that they are industry-ready and marketable.
