All-set for peacekeeping mission

The Brunei Darussalam Flag Handover Ceremony for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) Contingent, who will be serving in the Malaysian Battalion 850-12 (MALBATT 850-12) as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission, was held at the Air Movement Centre, Rimba Air Force Base on Friday.

Present at the ceremony were Commander of the RBAF Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan; High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam Datuk Mohd Aini bin Atan, and Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Haji Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin.

The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, led by Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Mujib bin Haji Japar, Acting Director of the RBAF Religious Directorate (JAMA’AT).

The ceremony then proceeded with the handing over of the national flag by the Commander of the RBAF to Major Pengiran Muhd Syahir Fadillah bin Pengiran Salleh, Head of Brunei Darussalam’s Contingent for MALBATT 850-12, followed by the presentation of badges to the Officers and members of the contingent. The ceremony concluded with a group photo session. The contingent will depart to Malaysia upon the conclusion of the ceremony, using the RBAirF Transport Aircraft C295MW before departing to Lebanon.

RBAF is committed to fostering regional and international peace and stability, reaffirming its dedication to global peace and security.
