A full dress rehearsal for the upcoming 40th National Day celebration grand assembly was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium yesterday.
Under the scorching sun, thousands participated in the rehearsal of their performances for the grand assembly.
Overseeing the rehearsal were Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports (MCYS) Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary (Sports) at the MCYS Pengiran Mohd Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary (Community) at the MCYS Hajah Nor Ashikin binti Haji Johari and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Culture) at the MCYS Dr Siti Norkhalbi binti Haji Wahsalfelah.
Royal Brunei Armed Forces Commander Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan and Police Commissioner Dato Paduka Seri Haji Mohammad Irwan bin Haji Hambali were also in attendance.
Some 25,000 people are set to participate in the celebration this Saturday with the parade split into two groups. Group ‘A’ comprises flag bearers as the marching lead, the oath and takbir group, the national and logo flag bearers, uniformed personnel, cadets, uniformed associations and the public sector.
Group ‘B’ comprises associations, educational institutions and the private sector.
Grand assembly performances feature three showcases: Cita Bangsa Sejarah Terukir; Bersatu Mempertahankan Bangsa; and Bersatu Mencapai Cita Negara.
Around 8,000 seats have been allocated for the public to attend the event. Reservations for the tickets can be made on tiketkitani.gov.bn. – James Kon
