The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad on Thursday commended the dedication and hard work of participants involved in the Grand Assembly for Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day, following the final full-dress rehearsal at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien.
Braving the heat, some 20,000 participants, including students, civil servants, private sector employees, and representatives from non-governmental organisations (NGOs), took part in the full-dress rehearsal in preparation for the grand celebration.
Following the rehearsal, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, who also serves as Co-Chair of the Executive Committee for the National Day celebrations, expressed his appreciation for the participants’ efforts. “Alhamdulillah, today’s full-dress rehearsal was vibrant. I would like to thank all participants, including those in the performances, parade, and supporting roles, for their dedication in making this final rehearsal a success.”
The minister also reminded participants to ensure their well-being by having breakfast, staying hydrated, and maintaining good health and safety ahead of the Grand Assembly, which will take place on Sunday.
Also present to oversee the full-dress rehearsal were Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid and Minister of Education Datin Seri Setia Dr Dayang Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh, both of whom are also Co-Chairs of the Executive Committee for the National Day celebrations.
Also in attendance Chief of Adat Istiadat Negara Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Indera Setia Diraja Sahibul Karib Pengiran Anak Haji Idris bin Pengiran Maharaja Lela Pengiran Muda Abdul Kahar; Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, serving as Joint Advisor; Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan; Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Major General Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Muhammad Haszaimi bin Bol Hassan; and Acting Commissioner of the Royal Brunei Police Force Dato Seri Pahlawan Sulaiman bin Alidin, who serve as Deputy Co-Chairs.
The Grand Assembly for Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day Anniversary is scheduled to take place this Sunday (February 23), commencing at 9am. – James Kon
